The Importance of Self-Care

Engaging in a regular self-care program is essential for your mental health. Still, it has also been clinically proven to reduce or eliminate anxiety and depression, reduce stress, improve concentration, minimize frustration and anger, increase happiness, and improve energy. In Wilson, we promote a healthy lifestyle and provide several options to create practical means.

On March 4-6, 2022, the Town of Wilson will host an entire weekend of activities geared toward living your best life. Here are a few options to get you started.

  1. Live a Healthy Lifestyle: The Grange at Wilson Gardens will host a Health Fair on Friday, March 4, featuring vendors from local health organizations and medical facilities. Guests may have their blood pressure tested, health screening tests, and receive COVID vaccinations. While you are there, enjoy a healthy lunch option prepared by The Grange Kitchen. Friday, March 4; 10a-4p.
  2. Healthy Wine Tasting: The Wilson Café and Tavern will host their weekly wine tasting event, showcasing healthy wine options. Guest will enjoy a selection of wines known for their health benefits—limited seating. Pre-registration is required. Friday, March 4; 4p-5p.
  3. Community Bike Ride: Join the Wilson Outdoor Center in a community bike ride Saturday morning. All ages and experience levels are welcome to participate. We’ll meet at The Grange at 9:45a and begin a pre-determined course at 10a. Bring your own bike or borrow one from the Outdoor Center! Call The Grange if you would like to reserve a bike. Saturday, March 5 10:30a
  4. Self-Care Fair:  The Grange at Wilson Gardens will host the second day of vendors on Saturday. Guests will enjoy booths featuring skincare, hair treatments, exercise, IV drips, and more during this event. In addition, they will showcase classes featuring healthy cooking, herbal tea creations, a guest speaker, and a second wine tasting. Grab your girlfriends and have some fun! Saturday, March 5; 10a-4p.

Another form of self-care is learning the importance of helping others in need. From March 1-10, The Grange at Wilson Gardens will collect household items for The Haven of Northeast Arkansas, a shelter helping domestic abuse victims.
