Art Exhibit Reception featuring Allison Smith

Local Artist Allison Smith will feature her exhibit in a special showcase at The Grange at Wilson Gardens. Stop by The Grange on any Tuesday through Saturday during December, 11a-4p.

Opening Reception – Friday, December 3, 6-8p.

The opening reception is open to the public.

Allison Smith grew up in Lepanto and now lives in Jonesboro.  She is an expressionist and contemporary folk artist whose colorful work plays upon incidental details and patterns that emerge thru painting intuitively.  With a large imagination, she vividly tells stories with her work.  She primarily uses acrylics combined with other media, sometimes creating an effect with texture, sometimes “taking away”  to find the usually unplanned “modern folk figures”,  as she calls them, in her work.   Her work evokes a sweet feeling and reminds the viewer of the free spirit of a happy imagination.  It is collected throughout the US and is permanently installed at LeBonheur Children’s hospital in Jackson, TN, and NEA Center for Good Grief in Jonesboro.
